HYATT HOTEL DISASTER Premieres July 3 at 10PM
Encore: July 4 at 2AM and July 6 at 3PM
The Hyatt was open for just over a  year and had become a favorite gathering place for Kansas City  residents to kick off the weekend. The huge lobby was beautiful, sporting a four-story wall of glass and three 120-foot long skywalks running its length, two of them situated directly over the bar.

On Friday July 17th, 1981, just after 7 PM, the second and fourth floor skywalks collapsed onto the crowded dance floor and bar. 114 people died and over 250 were severely injured.

In this episode of MINUTE BY MINUTE, we'll hear riveting first person accounts from victims, police, reporters and rescuers of the tragedy in Kansas City, the valiant rescue effort that followed and the lasting scars carried by everyone involved in what remains the worst structural engineering disaster in the United States history.

AVATAR's Director of Photography, Paul Jacobson, sets up a POV shot.
